Linux Day is a distrubuted Linux/FOSS conference held yearly in Italy, with local conferences held in many cities (52 events in 2024 edition).

We have been invited as a project to speak at the event in Palermo since we are relevant for the "Mobile and Open Source" theme.

Extract from email invite from Francesco Bonanno of Free Circle LUG:

[...] long short story is that is a annual activity to promote GNU/Linux and FLOSS ecosystems among the local users of a community. It is done across all Italy, from the LUGs, this year on the 25th of October.
We have a modest amount of participants each year, with an average of 350 people each edition, and with this year, we will be the at the eighth edition for our association.
We would be glad to invite you as speakers this year, as we selected "Mobile and Open Source" as the theme of Linux Day 2025, hoping you could discuss about postmarketOS as a real GNU/Linux distro in alternative of the emblazoned Android distributions.

I think we still need to figure out who takes care of being "event support" from the team, but just quickly wanna say that we can definitely sponsor some stickers that you can take to the event!

We had a talk today with the organizers:

• The event has a mixed audience: professors, engineers, students. Not too technical, but still knowledgeable in general
• Every year they have a theme. This year they want to talk about Linux on Mobile on Palermo, so they have invited us and Mobian (Marco Mattiolo). Theme will be different in other Linux groups.
• The event has something around 8 to 10 talks. They sometimes do call for papers, but more reach out like they did with us.
• Federico offered a 45 minutes talk
• We should coordinate with Mobian to make sure we don't overlap in our talks
• Event last year had something between 350 and 400 people!
• Event organizers offered the possibility to send stickers directly to them instead of to Federico, and then Federico taking them to the event
• It's usually still warm enough to go to the beach in October!

@pabloyoyoista you missed just one point:

• They won't do a livestream to incentivize in person participation but the recording will be uploaded to YouTube and Peertube after the event.

We should coordinate with Mobian to make sure we don't overlap in our talks
