• from https://images.postmarketos.org
• I built it using pmbootstrap
• It was preinstalled on my device

What's the build date of the image? (in yyyy-mm-dd format)

Additional information

I bulided a custom kernel without Adreno 306 and mdp5 and gnome work fine on displaylink so it is Adreno 306 or mdp5 issue.

Can confirm this also occurs on google-krane (google-kukui subtype) with Mali GPU.

adding export GDK_GL_DISABLE=base-instance to ~/.profile fixes it.

I suspect kukui and snapdragon 410 are different issues, or at least they show different symptoms. I possess Samsung A5 and Lenovo 10e, and I want to check it and create a separate issue soon.

Keep in mind, that Adreno 306 (used by both j5 2016 and my a5) is known to have OpenGL ES 3 support bugged (another possible workaround mentioned in https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Qualcomm_Snapdragon_410/412_(MSM8916)#GPU ) which causes graphical glitches for Firefox #2332 (closed) and might be important also here.

What @longnoserob mentions is this bug: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/11892 which affects only ngl renderer - I checked that old gl renderer works on my 10e (and disabling base instance in either of 2 mentioned ways does not even affect it).
