msm-modem-uim-selection unavailable on systemd systems

I've been trying to get the SIM to work on OnePlus 6 with systemd. I came across this entry in the wiki. This entry says I could try and change the sim_wait_time in conf.d.

The selection script does not work on systemd systems.

What's the expected behaviour?

The selection script is available on systemd systems.

What's the current behaviour?

This file is only available in the openrc package.

How to reproduce your issue?

Check the files on the filesystem with the systemd setup.

What device are you using?

Oneplus 6

On what postmarketOS version did you encounter the issue?

• edge (master branch)

• v24.12

• v24.06 (supported until 2025-01-23)

• master_staging_systemd commit 98742bb8104545099c44a0c1b61df0e3c89fd79a

• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

• I built it using pmbootstrap

I repurposed this ticket to actually raise the issue that the selection script doesn't exist/work on systemd systems.

oh.. ya the entire script seems to be implemented in an openrc run script. I think that:

1. the logic here should be split out into a new script under /usr/bin

2. config for the script should be pulled from /usr/share or something (instead of /etc/conf.d, but this is mostly just personal preference, maybe it's fine to leave it under the current dir)

3. the openrc run script should be greatly simplified to just run/manage that script

4. add a systemd unit file to systemd-services, and add a preset in the system preset under the postmarketos-base-systemd pkg to enable this service by default
