You might want to take a look at mainlining this device, its older brother (Z2) is happy on kernel 5.x, and I've seen this one running mainline too..
(sadly it was never merged into torvalds tree, but I'm 99.9% sure i saw traces of it in Bjorn's tree over at github.com/andersson)
