Segfault in gnome-control-center (Mouse & Touchpad)

Describe your issue

What's the expected behaviour?

Gnome control center works on Wayland with Phosh.

What's the current behaviour?

Control center crashes when trying to go to mouse settings and keeps crashing afterwards.

How to reproduce your issue?

The app opens fine, but after selecting 'Mouse & Touchpad' it crashes; trying to reopen it causes a crash. (Presumable as it tries to display the last shown screen, 'Mouse & Touchpad'.)

What device are you using?

On what postmarketOS version did you encounter the issue?

• edge (master branch)

• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

On what environment did you encounter the issue?

Environments

• Phosh

How did you get postmarketOS image?

• I built it using pmbootstrap

Additional information

Seems to be very similar to #486 (closed).

Also, afterwards none of the panels work anymore, e.g. running gnome-control-center power would still want to open 'Mouse & Touchpad' and segfaults.

I can unfortunately not reproduce this myself on a fresh install in Phosh. Can you please install gdb, glib-dbg, gtk4.0-dbg, and gnome-control-center-dbg, run under gdb and provide a backtrace? Otherwise no chance to troubleshoot this.

This looks like some device problem with audio or similar, since the crash is in some gstreamer codec. A backtrace with those symbols might help, but there's little I can without reproducing. I think you might need to debug this yourselves

Just for the record, gnome-control-center remembers the last selected tab in the org.gnome.settings.last-panel key.

So, to "unsegfault" it, one would run:

gsettings reset org.gnome.Settings last-panel

Just for the record, as LTO has caused odd issues before (see #2368 (closed)), I tried to re-build the package with abuild-meson -Db_lto=false; but that makes no difference.

Issue seems to be caused by GStreamer failing to handle the video tooltips on the mouse panel with 32-bit systems, totem and gst-play also segfault when playing the tooltip webm files.

Issue appears to have been fixed upstream: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gstreamer/gstreamer/-/issues/3422

Hopefully we just need to wait for Alpine to update it's GStreamer packages and it should be sorted. Thanks to Martin J. for raising it, not sure if they have an account here...
