Librem5: No echo cancellation

What's the expected behaviour?
During a phone call on a Librem5, the person on the other end expects to have a clear call with no echo.
What's the current behaviour?
All people on the other end of a phone call complain about hearing their own voice echo-ing back to them.
How to reproduce your issue?
Call someone on the Librem5 using Gnome calls
What device are you using?
purism-librem5

It was preinstalled on my device
What's the build date of the image? (in yyyy-mm-dd format)
Additional information
#2103 (closed) no longer seems relevent, so I expect echo cancelling to work. It seems to be supported by Purism: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/librem5-base/-/blob/pureos/byzantium/default/audio/pulse/librem5.pa#L19
