What's the expected behaviour?

Audio works.

Gnome settings and pavucontrol both only show one output - Dummy Output, sound via speakers doesn't work

What device are you using?

google-homestar (Lenovo Duet 5)

On what postmarketOS version did you encounter the issue?

• edge (master branch)

• v23.12

• v23.06 (supported until 2024-01-18)

• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

• from https://images.postmarketos.org
• I built it using pmbootstrap
• It was preinstalled on my device

I have also tried copying the ucms from Cadmium to /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/conf.d/ with no success. (Audio did work on Cadmium).

Get logs from pulseaudio: killall -9 pulseaudio && pulseaudio -v &> pulseaudio.log. Ctrl-C after a few seconds.

After undoing my modifications and updating my system, this is the output: pulseaudio.log

Curiously, alsamixer actually does see the sound card, but it's not selected by default:

pavucontrol only sees the dummy output.

Replace /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/Qualcomm/sc7180/rt5682-max98357a/HiFi.conf with HiFi.conf and then see if that fixes it.

This did indeed fix the issue for me, thanks. Even the internal microphone seems to work.

Interestingly, the default in/out devices are headset/headphones, even though my device has no physical headphone jack, but I'm really just nitpicking now.

This is an odd issue then. The only modification I made was changing PlaybackChannels from 2 to 4 on the speaker device, as mentioned by the other comment on this issue. I have no clue why it suddenly wants 4 speaker channels...

Turns out my device (Lenovo Duet 5) does have four separate speaker grilles. I've tried the gnome sound tester and there are actually four different speakers (the sound comes out of only one grille at a time).

It seems to be aligned to an orientation of 90 degrees counter-clockwise from the default landscape orientation, with "Rear" meaning bottom (in this orientation)

I've managed to get working audio by installing pipewire and using the attached /etc/pipewire/pipewire.conf.d/speakers.conf. I've not got any microphone input though. speakers.conf
