[pinephone] outgoing phone audio quality is too bad for any use outside of emergencies
After a couple of calls, I always had the same repeating pattern: I can understand the other person fine and I have good reception, but I need to repeat even simple sentences twice because they cannot understand me. From this I am concluding that outgoing phone audio quality is too bad for any use outside of emergencies, and I am compelled to always use another device if in any way available to me to make a call because the PinePhone with pmOS just doesn't do the job.
I see multiple ways from here:
-
Possibly investigate if other users have the same issue, although I have read circumstantial comments on the forums to suggest that is the case -
Possibly address this if this is a driver issue -
(Personal suggestion) prioritize bluetooth & audio jack headset support for calls to work around possible quality issues of microphone
It might as well be that this is just a hw issue with the microphone, but that even more suggests headset support is needed to make the device usable for calls. Of course, getting the builtin microphone to work properly would be preferable but I'm not sure if that is possible, depending on what the cause is.
