Folderpane does not expand on account landing page

If the folderpane show button is pressed on the account landing page, the folder pane does not expand.

This can be reproduced by:

1. Open the account landing page (from the folder pane, click on the e-mailaddress).
2. Try to show the folderpane by pressing the button

I'm pretty much facing this issue. I'm stuck on the landing page and can't open folderpane on freshly installed thunderbird. Newly arrived messages can be opened, but clicking the button from anywhere in the thunderbird doesn't open the folderpane.

Did you add already an account? Try to do that first. Once you have an account you have a button there 'read messages' or something which allows you to escape.

I wish I knew how to solve this bug but I don't...

Yes I have an account configured already and for the glimpse of time the folder pane was visible, but while thunderbird was downloading messages it had disappeared (maybe I did something wrong). I noticed that if I click on the button to show the folder pane, main content moves a bit to the right, so something is happening. My guess is that it is a CSS issue somewhere. If I know how to run and test this, I could take a look and play around.
