I have installed 20210401-0112-postmarketOS-v21.03-i3wm-0.3-nokia-n900.img to a 32GB SD-Card plugged in to my N900 and booted from SD-Card. After some kernel messages, tons of messages like this "mmc1: unspecified timeout for CMD6 - use generic" appear - and finally the message ""boot partition not found""

Yes, i closed the back of the phone after selecting the "External SD card" from U-Boot. That is is starting the kernel and booting with a lot of timeout messages. I am using a 32GB SD-Card (HC-1)...
Hello, I have the same issue with my sdcard and n900.
I can boot maemo laste from sdcard, and then use dd to install pmos into emmc, then modify boot.scr, after that n900 can boot pmos from emmc successful.
Hi Sou! Thank you for the hint, BUT i want to boot pmos from the SD card NOT from emmc. As you mentioned maemo leste boot successfull from my 32GB SD card, but pmos (installed with dd) does NOT, even though the SD card is the same...
I now have tried another (16GB) SD card - same issue. Kernel ist found and booting, but show tons of "mmc1: unspecified timeout for CMD6" messages and finally the PostmarketOS splash screen shows up, with the messages "boot partition no found"...
The N900 requires a magnet on back case (which can be found under the kickstand) and that is notorious for falling off on N900s.
If you have a fridge magnet, you can try to stick it at the bottom of the device where the kickstand is located while the phone booting to postmarketOS.
The magnet is definitly NOT the reason for this timeout messages and boot failures, because:
.) maemo-leste (https://maemo-leste.github.io/) on another SD card from the same type boots successfully, and
.) booting without the whole back case (and therefor without the magnet) gives the same errors/timeouts and boot failure
maemo leste folks upstreamed a kernel patch that makes this magnet no longer necessary. We could upgrade our kernel to get this in too, patches welcome!

Yes, this doesn't look pretty. Again, patches welcome, unfortunately I don't have time right now to fix this myself. (But it's only a cosmetic issue, it does boot up successfully.)
Closing, as the "boot partition not found" issue is resolved.
