• edge (master branch)

• v22.06 (supported until 2023-01-18)

• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

• I built it using pmbootstrap

Unfortunately, architecture of the .apk package completely doesn't matter here:

• It's hard to use separate arch for subpackages, doesn't worth the effort
• Bootloader binary itself is armv7, even for aarch64 SoCs (AFAIK). It is always cross-compiled using armv7 compiler for all arches (therefore it has !archcheck in options). You may consider the installed lk2nd.img file as some arbitrary firmware, not as arch-specific executable that OS can execute (spoiler: it can't execute it anyway)

For all we know, the package could be "noarch" (arch-independent), and be built for all arches, but it doesn't make sense outside of armv7/aarch64, therefore arch is limited to only 2 of them.

In other words, it could be like linux-firmware with arch="all" (see https://git.alpinelinux.org/aports/tree/main/linux-firmware/APKBUILD#n8)

What do you need lk2nd-msm8974 for on aarch64? msm8974 is 32-bit only and I doubt lk2nd-msm8974 works on any other SoC?

That's not what he's saying. He's saying that lk2nd-msm8974 is available for aarch64 when it doesn't need to be.
