Oneplus-enchilda will automatically restart after shutting down while charging.

How to reproduce your issue?

Enter the poweroff command when the oneplus-enchilda is powered on for charging.

What device are you using?

oneplus-enchilda

On what postmarketOS version did you encounter the issue?

• edge (master branch)

• v23.06

• v22.12 (Supported until 2023-07-06)

• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

How did you get postmarketOS image?

• I built it using pmbootstrap

I have also encountered the same issue. The system even restarts when I am using the graphical interface normally. In addition, other graphical interfaces cannot be used except for GNOME. I personally think that this system is not very stable.

The built-in Android system of the OnePlus 6 phone runs normally, and it will not automatically turn on after shutting down while charging. The phone will not automatically turn on after connecting the phone to the power supply while the phone is turned off. Since flashing the PostmarketOS system, it will automatically turn on after shutting down while charging. The phone will automatically turn on after connecting the phone to the power supply while the phone is turned off. I think this is caused by a defect in the power management module of the PostmarketOS system.

I believe this is because the PMIC PON (power on) driver doesn't fully implement the power on/off and reboot reasons. See drivers/input/misc/qpnp-power-on.c and drivers/power/reset/msm-poweroff.c in downstream, "reason" and "_RB_" are things to search for.

It's not actually possible for the phone to ever be "off" with the power cable plugged in. The bootloader implements a charging mode where it pretends to be off, but it needs to be running to handle actually charging the phone and making sure it doesn't explode.

It would be nice to add these missing bits to upstream, but it doesn't seem to be super obvious what the magic register writes are and unfortunately it's not super high priority for me.
