PinePhone Pro doesn't load kernel module loop on startup, required for Waydroid

Describe your issue

What's the expected behaviour?

Module "loop" is loaded on startup or on demand, so Waydroid can start on login.

What's the current behaviour?

I have to manually run "sudo modprobe loop" each time the phone starts in order to then be able to launch Waydroid.

How to reproduce your issue?

Attempt to start Waydroid on boot and observe that it doesn't work unless the "loop" module is loaded manually on each boot.

What device are you using?

PinePhone Pro

On what postmarketOS version did you encounter the issue?

  • edge (master branch)

  • v24.12

  • v24.06 (supported until 2025-01-23)

  • I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

On what environment did you encounter the issue?

Environments

  • GNOME Shell on Mobile
  • Phosh
  • Plasma Mobile

How did you get postmarketOS image?

What's the build date of the image? (in yyyy-mm-dd format)

Irrelevant as I upgraded from v24.12 to edge.
