Hi! Just to confirm, do you have a SIM in your device? Did modem work on openrc for you before?

No SIM was in the device. I haven't had a SIM in this device for a while so I can't remember.

Well the error makes sense then, whether the unit is supposed to fail or not in that case is another question I guess...

I don't think the service should fail. Perhaps the service should report start success if the binary/daemon starts OK and then continue to look for a SIM card at regular intervals.
