It's really weird. With asus-me176c, one of my PCs fails to detect the USB device, but it works as soon as I set the serialnumber. I also tried connecting it to my Raspberry Pi but it detected it just fine, even without serialnumber. On the other hand, my samsung-a5ulte works just fine on my PC...

Anyway, it's probably better to set a serialnumber if it prevents some PCs with some devices from getting confused ;)

I tested this patch on:

  • asus-me176c (shows up on my PC with this patch)
  • samsung-a5ulte (works fine with or without this patch)
