Is this a vendor ("downstream") kernel or something close to mainline? And, did you only try Weston? Weston requires working DRM as of Weston 10, and therefore it doesn't work with vendor kernels. I suggest you try Xfce4 instead.

i used kernel https://github.com/noobdev95/android_kernel_samsung_msm8917 here i think it is for lineage 18.1
i already tried xfce4 and the result is same

For what it's worth some people are working on mainline for msm8917 here: https://github.com/Lanik123/linux
It's early days though.

Do I continue with downstream or mainstream kernel?

Mainline will require more work, but should be more rewarding as you can get more hardware working. I would do mainline, but it is your call. The msm8917 mainline developers can be contacted in a Telegram group (unfortunately not public, but I can invite you). I'm not sure if there are any other places.

I think I will continue doing on downstream only move to mainstream after the phone boot up with little driver and have enough time to do mainstream. What should I do to continue to get display working in downstream kernel?
