Gnome keyring storing SIM pin is kind of needed for daily driving due to modem locking it again
Describe your issue
Sadly, it seems like the modem occasionally locking the SIM again during the day (maybe due to eg25-manager restarts) with zero warning, no notifications, nor anything else is still pretty common. With a SIM card with a pin this however means that the PinePhone just randomly goes into unreachable without any way of being aware, until the user notices through sheer luck and re-enters the pin. It would therefore be desirable if the gnome keyring could be used to store the pin so I'm not forced to choose between SIM card completely unsecured without any pin or completely unreliable reachability.
What's the expected behaviour?
SIM card modal dialog has a checkbox which offers saving the pin in the keyring so I don't need to enter it next time.
What's the current behaviour?
I need to re-enter the SIM pin each time, including to fix completely unattended, unnoticed resets of the SIM to locked during the day.
How to reproduce your issue?
Disable & re-enable modem to see SIM locked. You'll always need to press "unlock" and enter the PIN manually, this is what should become avoidable with Gnome keyring suppport.
