• I confirm that the issue still is present after running sudo apk upgrade -a

I also used tow-boot USB mass storage to mount the partition, and upgraded here.

Yes you can keep this bug report open.
Although the original problem seems to be solved, something between 6.6 and 6.11/6.12 changed, which broke MMC initialization.
Looking at the bootlog in !5934 (closed), we can see that the initial set-up from tow-boot works as intended.

Although it looks like it is able to find the related .efi file, the Ramdisk of the PinePhone Pro doesn't seem to come up.
If this has anything to do with the voltage select I do not know yet, but this seems to be a obvious difference from 6.6.
Unfortunately I do not have a serial cable to test the output of a non-FDE installation, to compare if this renders a different output, particularly "Card did not respond to voltage select!: -110".
