htc-ville: change arch to armv7, update the kernel and firmware
Updated the kernel to the latest version from LineageOS [1] (branch cm-14.1
), copied their configuration file and updated it according to pmbootstrap kconfig check
. Previous kernel was from cm-12.1
branch.
Fixed firmware package. Switched firmware source to LineageOS/TheMuppets and install only the Wi-Fi firmware, but into the correct directory. Previously all available firmware was simply copied into wrong directories.

Previous kernel didn't boot for me at all. This boots into Weston,
everything is red though. Comparing to(this bug was actually introduced by config update here, I have reverted it and colors are correct)cm-12.1
I don't see any fixes indrivers/video/msm/mdss/
, so I guess it was like this on previous kernel too.Wi-Fi now works and can be easily configured with
nmtui
onwlan0
interface. There is also ap2p0
interface for Wi-Fi Direct.MR is ready for review.

I've tested this on my htc-ville. Overall it's no doubt an improvement, but I get frequent spontaneous reboots. Do you get those too? Nonetheless, considering that the port didn't work at all prior to this, I don't think this is a blocker for getting it merged.

@Newbyte did previous port boot for you at all?
I get crashes shortly after running firefox. Things start segfaulting, even commands in the SSH session segfault and then everything crashes. If I only run gtk demo or command line things over SSH it can run for long time.
Maybe something is wrong in the framebuffer driver that corrupts the memory of the kernel?
I see "Some apps might crash the device" note on https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/HTC_One_SV_(htc-c520e) which is a similar device (similar/same(?) SoC, same GPU).
